From New Chitose Airport
Almost everyone arrives through New Chitose Airport (CTS) near Sapporo. Resort buses run direct to Niseko in winter and need a reservation; a published timetable shows a 10:00 departure arriving at Hirafu at 13:33, so allow about three to three and a half hours. By car it is roughly two to two and a half hours, on winter roads. By train, take the rapid to Otaru (about 72 minutes) and a local train on to Kutchan or Niseko (about 90 minutes).

Getting around
Hirafu village is walkable. In winter the Niseko United shuttle bus links Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri for holders of a valid lift pass, and local buses connect the resort areas with Kutchan and Niseko stations. Employers based in Rusutsu, Kiroro or outlying lodges usually provide transport or on-site housing; check the listing.
- Kutchan town: JR station, supermarkets, town office, clinics, most year-round services.
- Hirafu: the main resort village above Kutchan; most winter hospitality jobs and staff housing.
- Niseko Village and Annupuri: hotels on the other side of the mountain, closer to Niseko station.
