About the role
Niseko Jobs is building the employment infrastructure for one of Japan’s most international resort towns.
Niseko has thousands of seasonal workers, foreign residents, hotels, restaurants, ski schools, property companies, and local businesses — but the hiring system is still fragmented. Candidates search through Facebook groups, scattered job boards, private referrals, and outdated listings. Employers struggle with timing, housing, visa readiness, language fit, and seasonal hiring pressure.
We are building a better system.
Niseko Jobs is not just a job board. It is becoming an AI-native hiring platform for destination economies: job discovery, employer profiles, candidate intake, visa-readiness signals, local workforce data, SEO/GEO visibility, and eventually a wider infrastructure layer for places like Niseko, Hakuba, Rusutsu, and other international regions in Japan.
We are looking for a Founding Chief AI Officer / AI Systems Lead to help turn this into a serious AI-native company.
This is a hands-on builder role. You will work directly with the founder to design and improve the systems behind Niseko Jobs, including:
- AI-assisted job matching between candidates and employers
- SEO/GEO strategy so Niseko Jobs appears in Google and AI search results
- employer dashboard and candidate dashboard workflows
- job post generation and quality improvement tools
- candidate profile structure and intake logic
- visa/work eligibility signal design
- AI agents for admin, research, outreach, content, and operations
- internal workflows for employer acquisition and candidate onboarding
- data architecture for jobs, employers, candidates, applications, reviews, and regional labor intelligence
You do not need to be a traditional corporate executive. You need to be able to think clearly, build quickly, and use AI tools at a high level.
The ideal candidate is someone who can move between product, operations, automation, data, and strategy. You should be comfortable working with no-code/low-code tools, AI app builders, prompt design, workflow automation, databases, and modern AI tools. Coding ability is a strong plus, but the most important skill is the ability to turn messy real-world business problems into useful systems.
This role is especially suitable for:
- AI builders
- technical operators
- product-minded engineers
- no-code/low-code builders
- startup generalists
- students or recent graduates with exceptional AI ability
- people interested in the future of work, tourism, migration, and regional economies
You will be judged by output, not credentials.
Examples of good early projects:
- improve the job posting flow so employers can create high-quality listings easily
- create AI-generated metadata and structured content for every job and employer page
- design better candidate matching logic based on language, visa, housing, seasonality, and role fit
- build internal dashboards that show which employers need staff and which candidates are ready
- create AI workflows for employer outreach and candidate onboarding
- help define the AI operating system behind Niseko Jobs
This is a founding-level role. The first phase will likely begin as a contract position, but for the right person it can grow into a long-term leadership role across Niseko Jobs, WATARI, and related AI-native regional infrastructure projects.
We are looking for someone who wants to build something real from the ground up.
Apply if you can show what you have built, how you think, and how you would improve Niseko Jobs. A short portfolio, GitHub, Notion page, previous AI workflows, product screenshots, or even a clear written proposal is more valuable than a polished CV.
- This is not a normal job-board role.
- This is a chance to help build the hiring infrastructure for international Japan.
Housing
No housing provided
Remote-first role. Niseko visits may be arranged for key project periods.
Language & work eligibility
- Workplace language: Japanese + English
- Japanese: Conversational
- Business English required. Japanese preferred but not required.
- Visa support: case-by-case — Visa support is reviewed on a case-by-case basis depending on the role, candidate background, contract type, and eligibility. We welcome candidates who already hold valid work permission in Japan, including Working Holiday, Student part-time work permission, PR / Spouse, and other eligible statuses.

What is listed here is the employer's statement, not legal advice. Whether you can work on your status is covered in the visa guide.
How applying works
- Press Apply. The first time, five short questions (your dates, work status, languages, the work you want) become your profile.
- Before anything is sent you see exactly what this employer will receive.
- The employer replies here. Your application page shows where it stands, and you get a message when it moves.
