About the role
Smart Homes Japan designs, installs and supports automation systems for luxury homes, hotels and commercial spaces. As System Designer you'll own the technical blueprints: CAD site plans, engineering diagrams, hardware and control-platform specifications. You'll run client discovery and site surveys with homeowners, architects and lighting designers, then act as the technical authority for the integration team during installation. Based in Kutchan, with offices in Sapporo and Hakuba and projects nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Produce CAD site plans, engineering diagrams and technical drawings
- Select and specify hardware, control platforms and enterprise networking gear
- Run on-site surveys covering layouts, space allocation and power constraints
- Capture owner requirements through the discovery process
- Support field integration teams during installation and commissioning
- Improve design tools and workflows; track new smart-home technology
Requirements
- Technical background in smart home integration, AV/lighting design, audio engineering or IT networking
- CAD proficiency (AutoCAD or similar) and ability to read architectural, structural and electrical drawings
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Business-level Japanese
- Legal right to work in Japan
Nice to have
- Design or programming experience with KNX, Lutron, Control4, or Crestron systems.
- Familiarity with network configuration and lighting system design.
- Valid Japanese driver’s license (or an International Driving Permit).
Benefits
- ¥4,800,000–¥7,200,000 per year, based on skills and experience
- 40 hours/week, Mon–Fri 8:00–17:00 with a 60-minute break
- 1-year fixed-term contract, renewal considered on performance and business needs
