About the role

Ski Japan Travel is hiring Rental/Retail Technicians for its NBS (Niseko Base Snowsports) rental and retail shop in Niseko. You will set up rental skis and boards, fit boots, clothing and helmets, look after the rental fleet and handle retail sales, while helping guests with local information and promoting tours. It is full time, 5 days a week, averaging 35–40 hours in peak season. The hourly rate is set at interview. Applications go through Ski Japan's own application page.

Responsibilities

  • Set up rental skis and snowboards accurately
  • Boot fitting, and clothing, helmet and accessory fitting
  • General maintenance of the rental fleet and equipment
  • Retail sales and cash/credit processing and balancing
  • Support NBS operations, including the snow sports school and kids club
  • Snow clearing and keeping the store presentable
  • Answer phone, email and in-house guest enquiries, and give guests local information
  • Promote Ski Japan and NBS services, tours and activities
  • Help hotel operations when needed (rubbish removal, basic cleaning) and occasionally host cultural tours

Requirements

  • English
  • At least moderate ski or snowboard ability (it relates directly to product knowledge)
  • A driving licence issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco or Taiwan, or an International Driving Permit under the 1949 Geneva Convention
  • A Working Holiday Visa (held or eligible), or eligibility for a sponsored work visa

Nice to have

  • Japanese/Chinese/English bilingual
  • Face-to-face customer service, travel/tourism, or resort/seasonal work experience
  • Cash and credit card handling
  • Rental systems such as Easy Rent, In-Touch, Sports Rental or RTP
